425 Grand Concourse

Bronx, NY

This new 28-story mixed-use development will be the largest passive house project in the United States and will rise at 425 Grand Concourse. The building will meet The Passive House Standard and will consume less than 30% of the energy of a traditional housing development. The project will create 241 affordable housing units throughout the tower, while the base of the building will be occupied by The New Life School, a charter school for children with emotional and learning disabilities, along with a medical clinic and community spaces. Its construction will be reinforced concrete flat slab and the building will be founded on rock. Mayor de Blasio says 425 Grand Concourse will serve as “a model for all housing development in New York’s future”.
