NoMad Hotel

1170 Broadway

New York, NY

This project involved the conversion of a historic 12-story office building at 1170 Broadway, as well as two adjacent buildings, into a 13-story boutique hotel. A new penthouse was framed to accommodate an event space with an accompanying kitchen to serve it. The existing roof of 1170 was reinforced and converted to a landscaped roof terrace. The roof of 1164 Broadway was reinforced and converted into a private terrace adjoining one of the hotel suites. New door openings were created through existing masonry walls between the buildings. New openings were reframed through the first floor slab, and new stairs were installed to serve spaces in the cellar, including new bathrooms and a kitchen to serve the ground floor.
