160 East 22nd Street
New York, NY
160 East 22nd Street is a 21-story residential building in Manhattan’s Gramercy neighborhood. The design accommodates a 24’ cantilever from 6th floor to roof over a neighboring building. The initial framing studies considered both steel and concrete as possible cantilever solutions. It was ultimately achieved using two 2-story concrete beams between the 7th and 9th floors, including an opening on the 8th floor. The southeast corner is supported using a 6-story sloped column and a hung corner column.
