18 West 56th Street Hotel

18 West 56th Street is a new 16-story concrete hotel building founded on rock. It is comprised of concrete flat plate slabs with a lateral system of concrete shear walls. To create a large screening room in the first cellar level, a steel truss was added in the rear of the building. This full story truss spans the width of the building to transfer five concrete columns, allowing for a column free space below.
