340 West End Avenue

New York, NY

This residential apartment building, a NYC historic landmark, has been undergoing an extensive restoration since 2008. Constructed in 1908, it was originally developed by William Waldorf Astor and now stands as one of the most impressive residences in the city. The renovation included the alteration of the luxury apartments as well as the installation of new cooling/heating systems, the restoration and upgrade of the existing parking garage, and façade repairs. The structure of the building is steel framed with terra cotta flat arch slabs, and the foundation is shallow spread footings.
